Decisions, Formats, Artistic Insecurity
Basically, I'm not entirely sure the re-scoping to a prose-driven format was a particularly good idea for this project. Given that unless I make a decision, I'm going to wallow in uncertainty and get nowhere as I have for good long stretches of the years I've been working on The Bitter Drop, I've made a couple of decisions that will hopefully give me evidence I need to feel secure in my artistic decisions:
- I'm going to attempt to produce a demo in Visual Novel format.
- if by October 21, 2018, I have not made significant progress in this direction, I'm going to switch to the prose-centric format for good
- I'm not going to worry about deadlines otherwise. This is about whether I've been actually working on the thing, not the amount of what I've produced.
I don't know if I'll be able to release a demo this October. I will certainly try! But I can't make that promise. I know this project is taking a long time, but I'm asking you to have faith that I will deliver and that the extra time spend developing it was necessary.
